WHAT PEOPLE ARE SAYING IN THE LAST 4 DAYS:
“Incredible Greek Food!” 4 days agoReviewed by Jill V
I was staying in Crystal River for business and searching for dinner one night. The reviews looked great for this restaurant and I am so glad I tried it out. My waitress, Jennifer, was very friendly and knowledgeable about different flavors. I tried the hummus and tzatziki for an appetizer, which were large portions for one person, but I wasn’t complaining! My entree of the Pastisio was unlike anything I have eaten before and I had to control myself from eating the entire casserole. Jennifer recommended combining the tzatziki flavor with the entree and it made the casserole creamy and even more delicious! Would highly recommend for anyone seeking a tasty Mediterranean meal.
“Our third visit this year, on our return list…gotta try them!” 1 week agoReviewed by Ron K Not a lot of fare about this place but it is clean, service is great and the cook is the superstar behind the scenes! Three of us ordered Lamb and we all wanted it cooked to different degrees of doneness. The cook nailed everyone of them to our liking!! The side dishes were great and the salad dressings well prepared.

“Best of the three Greek restaurants listed in TripAdvisor Crystal River” 2 weeks agoReviewed by ruthles2 I’ve tried each of the three Crystal River TripAdvisor listed under Greek. Taverna Manos is the best based upon these two simple dishes: pasticcio and moussaka. I look forward to trying other dishes at each restaurant. Important to note that the best Greek food I’ve enjoyed was in the DC area.
Both pasticcio and moussaka are similar to lasagna: pasticcio features pasta and seasoned ground beef topped with a bechamel sauce, moussaka is eggplant and seasoned ground beef topped with a bechamel sauce. Taverna Manos serves these dishes in a bowl, allowing a looser, more creamer bechamel sauce. Most restaurants serve these dishes rather firm so they stand alone. Taverna’s creamer bechamel sauce ensures it is in every bite – much more comforting. Both dishes had a nice blend of basic seasoning, with spices: cinnamon, allspice, and nutmeg.
I also enjoyed the small Greek salad. It had the basic ingredients plus Florida’s requisite potato salad core. But the difference was the dressing, it was a nice combination of herbs, olive oil, and vinegar. Distinctively better than the local competitors.
The service was polite and friendly.
The menu was largely Greek, others have a mixture of American and Greek. The menu items are largely standard Greek fair.
The dining environment resembled a small inn, suitable for a nice date. Other restaurants were more diner-like.
Congrats! You got a 5-star review
