WHAT PEOPLE ARE SAYING IN THE LAST 4 DAYS:
“Incredible Greek Food!” 4 days agoReviewed by Jill V
I was staying in Crystal River for business and searching for dinner one night. The reviews looked great for this restaurant and I am so glad I tried it out. My waitress, Jennifer, was very friendly and knowledgeable about different flavors. I tried the hummus and tzatziki for an appetizer, which were large portions for one person, but I wasn’t complaining! My entree of the Pastisio was unlike anything I have eaten before and I had to control myself from eating the entire casserole. Jennifer recommended combining the tzatziki flavor with the entree and it made the casserole creamy and even more delicious! Would highly recommend for anyone seeking a tasty Mediterranean meal.
“Our third visit this year, on our return list…gotta try them!” 1 week agoReviewed by Ron K Not a lot of fare about this place but it is clean, service is great and the cook is the superstar behind the scenes! Three of us ordered Lamb and we all wanted it cooked to different degrees of doneness. The cook nailed everyone of them to our liking!! The side dishes were great and the salad dressings well prepared.
“Great Food and Service” 1 week agoReviewed by Sarah K We are here awhile back but I’m just now able to do a review. Food was amazing!! Portions and taste were awesome. Our server was very attentive and made out trip even more enjoyable.
“Best of the three Greek restaurants listed in TripAdvisor Crystal River” 2 weeks agoReviewed by ruthles2 I’ve tried each of the three Crystal River TripAdvisor listed under Greek. Taverna Manos is the best based upon these two simple dishes: pasticcio and moussaka. I look forward to trying other dishes at each restaurant. Important to note that the best Greek food I’ve enjoyed was in the DC area.
Both pasticcio and moussaka are similar to lasagna: pasticcio features pasta and seasoned ground beef topped with a bechamel sauce, moussaka is eggplant and seasoned ground beef topped with a bechamel sauce. Taverna Manos serves these dishes in a bowl, allowing a looser, more creamer bechamel sauce. Most restaurants serve these dishes rather firm so they stand alone. Taverna’s creamer bechamel sauce ensures it is in every bite – much more comforting. Both dishes had a nice blend of basic seasoning, with spices: cinnamon, allspice, and nutmeg.
I also enjoyed the small Greek salad. It had the basic ingredients plus Florida’s requisite potato salad core. But the difference was the dressing, it was a nice combination of herbs, olive oil, and vinegar. Distinctively better than the local competitors.
The service was polite and friendly.
The menu was largely Greek, others have a mixture of American and Greek. The menu items are largely standard Greek fair.
The dining environment resembled a small inn, suitable for a nice date. Other restaurants were more diner-like.
Congrats! You got a 5-star review
“The chef is a genius. Greek/italian and Mediterranean fare Generous portions Opa forgetaboutit 😄”

This is what makes us stand out from the rest:
Our vision when we created Taverna Manos was to have a restaurant That served the HEALTHIEST AND MOST NUTRITIOUS foods available to our customers. We wanted a restaurant that catered to customers that cared about what they ate. We also wanted a restaurant that was affordable and a great value for your dining dollar. We are proud of our restaurant and this award shows that this concept works. As we start our 5th year we want to share two of our most important new concepts:
5% discount for the use of cash.
Taverna Manos is now offering an option and an incentive of 5% discount for cash payments. Our decision was simple, before October 2015 all banks will be moving to new credit card
systems. This has been mandated and there is no choice. This credit card system now puts any fraudlent account activity on the shoulders of the consumers and of companies who use and accept these credit cards.
Banks and credit card providers will no longer be responsible for fraudlent purchases, stolen credit cards, hacking incidents, etc. In addition, because of the new manadated credit card systems, all credit card usage fees for companies accepting credit cards will go up. We feel that type of policy is unfair, however, we know in this day and age people rely on credit cards for dining purchases.
We would rather give you, our customer, the 5% fee that we pay per credit card transaction. The banks have enough money. So it’s simple pay using cash and receive an automatic 5% discount on your meal.
OUR MEATS ARE EITHER CHOICE OR PRIME AND TO QUALITY. YOU CAN TASTE THE DIFFERENCE! WE ARE MOST PROUD OF OUR CHICKEN PRODUCTS:
Taverna Manos cares about what you and your family eat.
The chicken that is served has been certified organic:
Free-Range (We buy only chicken that was raised and processed humanely)
Vegetarian Diet Fed (their food is NON GMO)
No Byproducts (NO JUICES THAT ARE UNHEALTHY)
We challenge you to ask your other favorite restaurants if their chicken offers the same certifications. When I was young my grandmother always told me: “You are what you eat Niko!” She’s was right. TO BE HEALTHY YOU MUST EAT QUALITY FOOD.
Thanks for making us 4 years running TRIP ADVISOR AWARD WINNERS!
Here’s a quick video to explain how to make Saganaki at home. One of the Taverna favorites. Goat cheese is a favorite in Greece and coating in flour and pan frying is an all time favorite.
The smell is fantastic and this is comfort food at its finest. Serve with toasted pita bread and a nice Greek wine for an additional treat for your guests – or just for you!
