Homeschool Art Or Cooking Classes (ages 9-15)

These sessions are designed for homeschool groups who want hands‑on, real‑world learning. Students must be tall enough to work safely at standard restaurant tables and counters — I’m not able to accommodate younger or smaller children.

Sessions are held tuesday and second class Thursday from 10-noon. A total of 8 kids is required to open the space.

Because it’s just me running these sessions, I can only take two groups per week, and scheduling is first‑come, first‑served. Parents are welcome and encouraged to stay.

All sessions are by reservation only — I cannot accept walk‑ins or individual drop‑offs.

Please call 352-564-0078 to arrange for classes.

Knife Requirements (Very Important)

Students must bring their own knives, because knives are like shoes — they must fit the hand, feel comfortable, and work well for the individual child.

Recommended knives (bring what you can):

  • 5″ chef’s knife (student‑sized, lightweight, comfortable grip)
  • Paring knife
  • Vegetable knife (ceramic is fine)

Several small knives are appreciated — kids naturally find the one that fits best.

Transport: Knives must arrive in a sheath, knife roll, or wrapped in a towel with a rubber band.

Cut‑Resistant Glove Option

Students must have a snug glove for their non‑knife hand.

Parents may:

  • Bring their own OR must be level 5 only
  • Have me supply one for $15.99 pls call and tell me your child’s hand size. see below:

To size correctly, please send:

  1. Palm measurement (knuckle crease to knuckle crease)
  2. Longest finger (tip to base of palm)

Other Required Supplies

  • Apron
  • Hair control (tie, headband, or hat)
  • Closed‑toe shoes
  • Water bottle

Optional: chef hat, neck scarf/bandana, named apron, knife roll.

Tuition & Payment

$50 per weekly class Payable in cash at the start of each class.

We use cash because it avoids unnecessary bank and processing fees, and that money goes directly toward ingredients and supplies for the kids.

A minimum of 8 students is required to open each class.

Cooking Class Attendance Policy

Because food is purchased fresh for each class:

  • If a student will miss a class, you must call or message ahead of time
  • This prevents food waste and keeps costs fair for everyone
  • Missed classes are not charged, since payment is made in cash each week
  • Students who miss a class will not receive a Certificate of Completion at the end of the 10‑week program

Certificates are only given to students who attend all sessions, since each week builds on the last and includes hands‑on skills.

End‑of‑Session Celebration

  • Certificate of Achievement Ceremony
  • Chopping Block vs. Hot Plate Crew Cook‑Off
  • Shared lunch featuring the dishes they prepare

A fun, confidence‑building finale to the 10‑week program.
